:: ABOUT THE SULTAN ::

The Sultan of Agrabah is a character from Walt Disney Pictures' Aladdin series. The adorable and kind ruler of Agrabah, the Sultan exudes a warmth and zest for life that is evident in his very being. He is very protective of his beloved daughter Jasmine and tries to keep her both safe and happy. The evil Jafar initially took advantage of the Sultan's trusting nature while, as Grand Vizier, he advised the Sultan to do things that were in his (Jafar's) best interests, not the Sultan's or Agrabah's. When the Sultan became skeptical of his advice, Jafar hypnotized him into doing his bidding. The Genie and Aladdin, who had fallen for Jasmine and of whom the Sultan was fond, were able to break Jafar's hold on the Sultan, exposing Jafar as an evil man and his machinations against the Sultan.

Jafar later tried to seek revenge on the Genie, Aladdin, Jasmine, the Sultan, etc. but was thwarted by the group. The Sultan, seeing how much Jasmine and Aladdin loved each other, changed an Agrabah law that stipulated that the princess had to marry a prince - instead, he decreed that the royals could marry whom they deemed worthy, regardless of class or station. Jasmine chose Aladdin and he came to live with Jasmine and the Sultan at the Palace with the Genie, Abu and Raja. Eventually, the Sultan watched proudly as his beloved daughter married her love at the Palace.
