:: ABOUT ROBERT & ANNA ::

Robert's work with the WSB led him to Port Charles in 1981 with an assignment to bring down the evil Cassadine family. Along with Luke Spencer and Laura Webber, Robert eventually completes his assignment, as the trio keeps the Cassadines from freezing the world with a weather machine powered by their Ice Princess diamond.

In 1983, Robert met future wife Holly Sutton, who was involved with his best friend Luke Spencer at the time. After Luke was presumed dead, Robert married a pregnant Holly to keep her from being deported. Holly miscarried the child, but the couple stayed together - they had fallen in love. When Luke returned, he was furious but the trio managed to work out their differences and stay close friends.

In 1985, Anna turned up in Port Charles. The theft of an Aztec treasure reunited the estranged couple as they worked to recover the treasure with Sean Donely. The closeness of the pair disturbed Holly and upon finding out that not only was Anna his former partner, but also his ex-wife, Holly left Robert. The trio of Anna, Robert and Anna eventually found the treasure. Robert reunited with Holly. Anna returned to New York City to find Filomena tied up and her home ransacked.

Meanwhile, a young girl named Robin appeared on Robert's doorstep. Anna returned to Port Charles in search of Robin and revealed to Robert that Robin was their daughter. Anna explained that their friend Filomena had been raising Robin, letting her believe that she was an orphan and Filomena's grandmother. Anna revealed that Robin didn't know she was her mother, rather, Robin believed that Anna was just a close family friend she called "Luv." Robin, who had overheard, was distraught, feeling hurt and rejected by her parents, and ran away. The young girl was kidnapped, but Robert and Anna teamed up to rescue her. Robert then left for Australia with Holly while Anna was named Co-Police Chief of Port Charles.

Anna met and fell in love with Duke Lavery, who unbeknownst to her, was deeply entrenched in the mob. Robert returned to Port Charles after Robin called him, having heard mobster Damon Grenville threaten Anna. Robert was immediately suspicious of Duke and tried to convince Anna to break their engagement. Duke, fearful for Anna and Robin's lives, turned informant and told the police everything, including that Co-Police Chief Burt Ramsey was the mob kingpin. Burt was shot and Duke was arrested. Robert believed Duke's innocence and together with Anna and Frisco Jones, exposed Burt as kingpin, resulting in the downfall of the mob. Meanwhile, Duke had managed to escape from prison and was shot by Burt Ramsey. Duke confronted Burt, resulting in paralysis, but Burt was arrested and sent to a mental institution. Duke was given a light sentence and was released, but Duke and Anna eventually broke up again. Anna started her own PI agency with now-widowed Robert and their best friend Sean Donely as her partners. Robert tried to win Anna back but she chose to return to Duke and the pair married.

In 1988, Robin was kidnapped by Grant Putnam, who killed Filomena and kidnapped Anna. Robert played the hero and rescued her. Anna soon discovered she was pregnant with Duke's child. Mob princess Olivia St. John (daughter of mobster Julian Jerome), who was in love with Duke, planned to kill him when she realized he would not leave Anna. Olivia rigged an elevator, but Anna got in the elevator instead. The elevator crashed and Anna lost the baby. Later, Anna was found in Olivia's hotel suite after shots were fired. Anna was arrested and charged with attempted murder before the real shooter was found. Olivia, who had survived the shooting, was soon sent to a mental institution after being found guilty of causing the death of Anna's baby.

Anna's marriage to Duke began to fall apart after he testified against the mob. Fearful for Anna and Robin's lives, Duke faked his death and entered the Witness Protection Program. The following year, Duke returned to Port Charles with a new face and new name. Anna didn't recognize him, but mobster Julian Jerome did and went after Duke. Julian shot and killed Olivia, who revealed Duke's true identity to Anna before she died. However, before Anna could reunite with Duke, Julian shot Duke and he died in Anna's arms.

Robert, who was engaged to be married pianist Katherine Delafield, postponed his wedding so that he could help Anna cope with Duke's death. His relationship with Katherine soon crumbled upon the realization that he would never be able to fully commit to her. Later, Anna was kidnapped by Cesar Faison, an old enemy from Robert and Anna's WSB days. Faison was eventually caught and left town.

Young Robin tried to play matchmaker for her parents by sending them faux Valentines. Her scheme worked as her parents slowly fell back in love. Then, Robert was almost murdered. After his recovery, Robert and Anna reunited for good. Robert proposed to Anna and they were married at the Quartermaine estate, in Lila's Shakesperean Garden. While on their honeymoon, Anna found Edward Quartermaine alive and living as a beach bum. Robert and Anna took Edward back to Port Charles and reunited him with his family.

In 1992, Anna learned that Robert's ex-wife Holly was still alive. Anna was fearful that Robert would leave her to return to Holly, but the couple remained together as Robert assured Anna of his love for her. Unfortunately, tragedy again struck the pair as Cesar Faison returned and decided he wanted Anna and Robin for himself. His mother kidnapped Robin but was caught and helped Robert find Faison, who killed his mother for her betrayal. Faison then kidnapped Anna and took her to a boat in South America. Robert followed to save his wife, but it was a trap. The boat exploded and Anna and Robert, along with Faison, were presumed dead.

Years later, Cesar Faison and Anna Devane both turned up alive; Faison on The City and Anna in Pine Valley on All My Children. In late 2005, it was revealed that the WSB had blown up the boat (not Faison) because they had been worried about Anna being a double agent. They captured Robert and made him a deal - go back to work for them or Anna and Robin would die. The WSB had kept tabs on Anna and Robin. Robert, feeling he had no choice, agreed to the deal, allowing his family to believe he was dead.

During the years that followed, he kept tabs on his family through updates. With the change in WSB administration, Robert was able to leave the WSB and went to work for the Medical Rescue Agency. On a mission in the Markham Islands where he learned his best friend Luke Spencer had come in contact with a deadly strain of encephalitis. Robert followed Luke back to Port Charles, where he found that the virus had already begun spreading through the city. As he was searching through files at General Hospital, Robert came face-to-face with his daughter Robin who was devastated to learn that her father had faked his death, essentially abandoning Robin and her mother Anna. Although Robert tried to explain, Robin was too angry to listen and the virus was spreading fast. Robert did his best to contain the virus, eventually ordering a quarantine of the hospital. While there, his brother Mac, the Police Commissioner, also learned he was alive and Robert had another family confrontation. In the end, the Scorpios put aside their hostilities temporarily to work to contain the virus.

While the epidemic had been contained, Robert's relationship with his daughter and brother was fragile. While at friend Tony Jones' memorial, Mac and Robin barely acknowledged Robert. Robin devastated Robert further by stating that she would not forgive him. Robert left Port Charles and Robin and Mac.

Robert returned to Port Charles to arrest best friend Luke Spencer and was caught up in his friend's hijinks which included a return to the Markham Islands and an encounter with former love Holly Sutton. The Markham Islands became the site of a Scorpio family reunion as Robin, along with Lulu Spencer, Patrick Drake and Dillon Quartermaine, showed up with the intention of saving their fathers from themselves. After getting their fathers out of a jam, Robin and Lulu decided to return to Port Charles with Dillon (Patrick had been called away earlier due to a medical emergency in Port Charles). However, before they could leave, another reunion befell Robert. Dropping in (literally) from the sky was Anna! After sharing a loving hello with Robin, Anna turned to face Robert...and roundhouse kicked him to the ground. The former couple skirmished until they were pulled apart. Daughter Robin implored her parents to put aside their differences and realize that for the first time in almost 15 years, they were all together. This revelation gave Robert and Anna pause and they retreated with their daughter for a much needed family reunion. It was during this time that Robin was surprised to learn that her parents still loved each other, but had both come to the conclusion that they could not be together. Still, the love and chemistry and just heartfelt connection between the two could not be denied. As Robert gazed at his former wife, he admitted that even after all the years she still took his breath away.

The Scorpios went their separate ways. Robin and Robert to Port Charles; Anna back to Europe for work. Robert managed to finagle his way into boarding with the Quartermaines and busied himself with inserting himself into the middle of the Q's chaos and the roller coaster marriage of his best friend Luke Spencer and his wife Tracy Quartermaine. Anna eventually turned up again in Port Charles, trading barbs with Robert while keying in on her assignment (Lorenzo Alcazar). Robert has uncovered that Anna is on assignment but cannot help but fluster Anna with his outrageous flirting and innuendos. At the same time, the former marrieds have decided to do their best to be there for their beloved Robin and make up for the parenting time lost. However, both Robert and Anna were again called away from their daughter due to their jobs. Currently, the pair will soon be dealing with another adventure - becoming grandparents - as their daughter Robin is now expecting a child with Patrick Drake, the son of old friend Noah Drake. Both will undoubtedly try to make up for their mistakes as parents although luckily for them, Robin adores them and is confident in their love for her. And while Robert and Anna have continued to seemingly exasperate each other, their attraction is undeniable and the love they share is one that is "for all time."
